Sociomapping

How does Europe work?

How diverse is Europe and what are historical and current power dynamics on the continent?

Sociomapping is an educational program for university students that looks at the world’s various regions and brings the political, economic and sociological aspects closer to those taking this course. This year we are focusing on Europe and its various regions, the roles and power dynamics of the different nations within the European Union and the continent in general.

Courses are held weekly, and at each lecture students learn from two experts of the specific region and also a local civilian sharing hands-on information and personal experiences. A special feature of Sociomapping is that after the presentations, a drama instructor helps students reflect on what has been said and deepen the knowledge they freshly acquired.

This year, Sociomapping starts on 1 October and takes place in Adaptér each week up until the end of November. The first and last occasions are informal meetings where participants can get to know each other and socialise freely. Apart from bringing knowledge closer to people, Sociomapping also builds community, one in which all participants can meet and share their experiences.

Video footage of the presentations of last year can be found on Adaptér’s youtube channel, available to all.
