Creative technologies

In Adaptér‘s Inspiration Space, you will find installative art&tech experiences using digital technologies to bring the world of Adaptér closer to you and inspire you to learn and create!

Experience elements in Adaptér

You can also learn how the technologies behind the experience elements work and how to create your own content in Adaptér. The concept for the installations was created by XORXOR’s interactive technology team.

The content displayed and the way it interacts is inspired by important media and interaction technologies, interfaces and effects that are now classics.

Monolit - Interactive LED wall

Monolit is gesture responsive, providing intuitive control of the content on the LED wall within the field tracked by the camera.

One of the unique features of the LED wall is that it embraces the two sides of the column without breaking. The resulting 512×512 pixel surface displays content in a single continuous layer, making it a low-resolution display reminiscent of the early pixel and ASCII art world.

Generative Artwork

Generative Artwork presents a series of works where visuals are created using programmed algorithms and various simulations.

We see fragmented compositions created by the interconnection, disintegration, space and colour changes of pixels in motion. With the help of our smartphones, after scanning the QR code, we can create new audiovisual experiences on the screen in the window.

The unique creations are also available as NFT (non-fungible tokens) cryptoart on blockchain-based networks.

Portal

Through the Portal, we can look into other worlds. The installation dynamically adapts to the viewer’s perspective and movement, providing an authentic perspective and 3D experience.

The Portal takes Johnny Lee’s 2007 Wiimote-based head tracking project and combines it with 3D visuals created using Unreal Engine for video game development, which provide a spectacular experience when displayed on a 4K monitor.

Újbuda Dataviz

We map and bring to life a 1:1500 scale model of the Bartók Negyed with real-time, current and historical data related to the neighbourhood.

You can switch between the different views and call up new information by pressing buttons and turning the potmeters.

There are currently three different types of content to navigate between, with the number of views expanding as desired in the future.

Slit-Scan Mirror

The window display installation gives us a glimpse into a strange visual reality: we can see what the window display sees.

The ever-changing view, based on distortion and repetition, is a unique temporal representation: it is based on the movement of people and objects passing in front of the window and on a combination of the slit-scan effect originally used in photography and filmmaking.

Pac-Man Installation

Navigating the maze of life and overcoming obstacles: the Japanese-developed Pac Man is considered one of the most popular video games of all time. Its name comes from the Japanese word paku-paku, which means the sound of the mouth opening and closing.

In the version by XORXOR, you can control the famous Pac-Man character with a gape: the game machine is equipped with a camera to detect the player’s face and mouth movements, and a joystick to navigate the maze.

The first version of the game was completed for the exhibition “Play Not Play” organised by the C3 Foundation in January 2023.
